Monica Mirpuri was born in Singapore in 1967.
Since the beginning of her career in the stockbroking industry in1989, Monica has been conscious of the occupational health hazards of the trade and as such, has indulged in various mind-body techniques to ensure balance in her life. With her keenness for growth, she also regularly participates in seminars and workshops mainly in her favourite areas: Psychology and Quantum Physics. However, it is when she has a paint brush in her hand is when she finds peace.
Since her early 30's, Monica has been involved with several organisations that has provided her a platform to give back and in different ways. These include:
-Counselling teenagers through government run Family Service Centres
- Raising funds by shaving her head to build a new wing at KK Hospital through Children's Cancer Foundation
- Providing training in schools and educational centres
- Supports various organisations such as Women for Women International, Kiva.com and many others.
Monica's Mission is to make a difference in the lives of underpriviledged children, giving them a reason and purpose in life, helping them realise how each and every one of them have a place in this world where they are significant in their own right. Showing them that there is a different way other than begging or prostitution. Her vision is to create schools where children can learn new skills, put them into practice by creating products and be rewarded for them. Thus, finding value in themselves and eventually respecting themselves.
Driven by this vision and her passion in art, Monica has created this platform as a start, using her own paintings and resources. Insha'allah, this will evolve to become a platform for others to use their talents for the sake of these children.
